‘Petite Equilibre” – Small Balance – two arcs of carved granite balanced together, stands in a former market place in a small town in France, standing on the base that used to hold the large scales used for weighing livestock, which are long since gone. However precarious balance of needs and desires, joy and despair, are part of each and every life, and this sculpture explores this delicate balance.

This is one of a series of carvings that Fly Freeman made whilst living in France. It is carved from Granite from a quarry local to the town of Meymac in Correze, central France.
